Higher-dimensional Nonnested Multigrid Methods
Nonnested multigrid methods are shown to be optimal-order solvers for systems of finite element equations arising from elliptic boundary problems in any space dimension. Results are derived for Lagrange-type elements of arbitrary degree.
متن کاملIntegrable inhomogeneous NLS equations are equivalent to the standard NLS
A class of inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equations (NLS), claiming to be novel integrable systems with rich properties continues appearing in PhysRev and PRL. All such equations are shown to be not new but equivalent to the standard NLS, which trivially explains their integrability features. PACS no: 02.30.Ik , 04.20.Jb , 05.45.Yv , 02.30.Jr Time and again various forms of inhomogeneous n...
متن کاملParallel Algorithms for Higher-Dimensional Convex Hulls
We give fast randomized and deterministic parallel methods for constructing convex hulls in IRd, for any fixed d. Our methods are for the weakest shared-memory model, the EREW PRAM, and have optimal work bounds (with high probability for the randomized methods). In particular, we show that the convex hull of n points in IRd can be constructed in O(logn) time using O(n logn + nbd=2c) work, with ...
متن کاملRenormalization methods for higher order differential equations
We adapt methodology of statistical mechanics and quantum field theory to approximate solutions to an arbitrary order ordinary differential equation boundary value problem by a second-order equation. In particular, we study equations involving the derivative of a double-well potential such as u− u3 or − u + 2u3. Using momentum (Fourier) space variables we average over short length scales and de...
متن کاملHomotopy analysis and Homotopy Pad$acute{e}$ methods for two-dimensional coupled Burgers\' equations
In this paper, analytic solutions of two-dimensional coupled Burgers' equations are obtained by the Homotopy analysis and the Homotopy Pad$acute{e}$ methods. The obtained approximation by using Homotopy method contains an auxiliary parameter which is a simple way to control and adjust the convergence region and rate of solution series. The approximation solutions by $[m,m]$ Homotopy Pad$acute{e...
